Impressive and Poignant Frida Kahlo Oil

This is almost certainly one of Frida’s last and most poignant paintings. In the last years of her life Frida increasingly included her husband and lover Diego Rivera in her works. This 1952 oil on canvas is somewhat similar to her 1949 “Diego y Yo” which sold for $34.9m in 2024. This piece is being sold for much less as it can only be “attributed” to Frida because its provenance is unknown prior to being acquired by Mexico’s Museum of Modern Art. An investor is willing to take a minority interest with the Buyer having full possession if the Buyer will agree to have it forensically tested and sold when Sotheby’s begins specifying the forensics tests it will accept to establish its authenticity.
