Superb Investor Special Toulouse-Lautrec Oil
This classic Toulouse-Lautrec oil will almost certainly be authenticated when art forensics advances sufficiently to be able to confirm that it was painted during the time he was painting. That would confirm its authenticity as he was not yet famous enough to be copied at that time. The painting has been left in its original frame to support its authenticity. The old wooden panel on which it is painted further supports its authenticity as Toulouse-Lautrec is well-known to have periodically employed wood instead of canvas as it was easier to use when he was painting in the Left Bank venues he frequented. There are two ancient authenticity-supporting certificates verso: The first is a Mary and Leigh Block Collection certificate. The Blocks are well-known to have had Toulouse-Lautrecs in their collection and to have sold them to help endow Block Museum which they donated to Northwestern University. The second is an ancient Chenue certificate identifying it as a Toulouse-Lautrec. There is also a COA issued by John Fliss and Associates identifying it as a Toulouse-Lautrec. Fliss and Associates believe it will have a value of at least $800,000 if it is forensically authenticated. Note: Two larger Toulouse-Lautrecs on wood and one exquisite smaller piece on hard paper with a significant Mathias Fels gallery stamp are also available from the same collector who fancied them and hung them in private bar of one of his great homes (see Phgmag.com/magnificent-mediterranean.) “”). He hung his collection of old master Teniers’ tavern scenes in another. They are also available.
