There is a very significant Galerie Mathias Fels stamp verso that suggests this painting’s authenticity. There are also several significant WWII Nazi stamps on the wood stretcher. They suggest the painting was seized and then returned to the owners or their heirs after the war. It does not appear on the list of stolen art which strongly suggests that it was sold by the heirs after its return.
